I love the concept of the Aesthetic of Friction by Matthias Laschke and Marc Hassenzahl. The idea that objects could be designed not for being convenient, but for making a difference. For instance, this project:
This “caterpillar” definitely is not a handy device, but it is useful, it makes you care about the environment.
For me, it means that I could stop thinking in the only one way of making people’s lives easier; and start creating useful things, which step out the everyday routine.
