Just a storytelling… a regular one
3.0 — Final Major Project
What could be better than a good story? It seems to me that our civilization is built on the stories. Stories or narratives have been shared in every culture as a means of entertainment, education, cultural preservation and instilling moral values.
The most effective way to communicate the information between humans is to tell a story. The only thing that changes over time is the variety of mediums through which the story is recorded and narrated. From the storytelling around a campfire to complex interactive narratives which employ different means of media nowadays we have passed a long way. That means that we mastered the storytelling a lot and we always had enough time to adapt to the new technologies, but in a modern world, the progress is so fast that our task is to explore new ways faster and tell stories more effectively.
With that said, I want to start from the basics, which are still true and proceed to the modern ways to tell a story.
The essential parts of every story are:
And every story can be framed into 3 parts:
- The Setup (The Hero’s world before the adventure starts).
- The Confrontation (The hero’s world turned upside down).
- The Resolution (Hero conquer’s villain, but it’s not enough for Hero to survive. The Hero or World must be transformed).
In the scope of my FMP, I would like to concentrate on the cinema and interactive storytelling where the storyline is not predetermined.
